This is going to be a very good tournament to promote the game of disc golf and at the same time help 4 excellent organizations. David Youhanaie is running this tournament and is asking for FVMDGC'S help and anyone else who would like to donate their time in teaching or helping in other areas to make this as successful as possible. David will be at the players meeting tonight to explain in more detail. He expects a huge turnout with a lot of youths and families attending. Here are the 4 beneficiaries for the World's biggest:
The American Red Cross EDGE (The Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) has been developed to provide schools and other youth programs with a sound program of teaching disc golf fundamentals and allied skills.) CARY (The Council on At-Risk Youth ( CARY ) is a 501c3 not for profit organization dedicated to helping youth prevent violence, drug abuse and delinquency through public information, training, and management of youth violence prevention programs.) DISC GOLF FOUNDATION -(The Mission of the Disc Golf Foundation (DGF) is multifaceted. First, it is to support educational programs that promote awareness of the sport of disc golf. Secondly, the DGF facilitates the advancement of disc golf, for example, through the support of new course development. Finally, the DGF endows worthy cultural and historical institutions that reflect the evolution and spirit of disc golf.)

We got a call from the Beacon News wanting information about the Club and the Worlds Biggest tournament. They are very interested in the charity work our club has provided with the help of the community. They said they would be at the Worlds Biggest to take some pictures and some interviews. Sounds like some great exposure for such a great game.

The Worlds Biggest tournament is this Saturday starting at 10am at Eagle Ridge. What a great way to promote the game of disc golf and help support 4 quality charitable programs. For $10, all ages will be given a disc to keep and be given a chance to compete for trophies and prizes. Free classes will be available throughout the day about learning golf etiquette and other things such as putting and driving. Bring the little ones or the whole family for a day of fun!
Anyone wanting or willing to volunteer their services may come out Saturday at any time to help.
If you would like further information contact David Youhanaie at 630-744-9940.
Thank You

I never played Eagle Ridge and I'm curious as to how the course condition is. I'm concerned for the non disc golfers walking around with us. World's Biggest Weekend is a great event. I've hooked so many players through the years from this event. Thanks for hosting it. Jesse

The course drains well but there are some spots out there that are pretty soaked. But bring as many people as you want. They won't be in the way of play, the course is spacious with plenty of room for a gallery. Enjoy a laid back round of disc!

I plan on getting out there sometime tomorrow to play at least a round. I'm hoping to get a buddy to come up from Ottawa. This will be the first one i've been to, and it sounds like a blast. My schedule is kinda tight tomorrow, but I will help out whatever time I have available.
