The club could probably add a policy about tags for 2009. (Just an idea. My 27 hasn't been in circulation much/at all. So I'm on the bad side of things on this one. I'm just thinking out loud.)
I think if you mention a bag tag to someone in another club, they have more of a "see ya at the next tournament" way of thinking. Which is understandable, because that's how most other clubs do it.
But Fox Valley has Bag Tag Challenges every week! On top of having leagues every week. AND on top of attending tournaments, like the players in other clubs. So maybe it deserves a policy. Maybe, if you have tags 1 thru 10 it has to be in play at least once a month, or exchanged for another tag. And it doesn't even have to mean showing up for the weekly challenge. But everyone knows someone else in the club. Schedule a match.
Or, if it's fair, have the policy be that the match has to be at one of the home courses: Eagle Ridge or Jericho Lake. That way it can be posted, or others can join the match if they are free that day.
And just as a final note, the Bag Tag Challenge every Sunday didn't have to be successful. Credit should be given to all the new local players for keeping it alive, and Randy for starting it & keeping it going too. I think it's one of the things that gives Fox Valley Metro part of its identity. Other clubs don't do this. Not weekly. And not with the success of Fox Valley Metro. And the results being posted the same day by Randy & Mark, has been awesome.
So, just something to think about for 2009.
