Bag tags are at a new time now, it will start at 9:00 instead of 11:00. The ace pot is $100. Blind birdie is $5 but optional. Mark Sylvester may be running the show unless he gets a wild hair and plays in the Shorewood tournament.

We had 6 dedicated players that could get out of bed and venture on out to the Ridge.

Nothing like those spider webs in the morning.

Ken Clow shot a -6 to take the win and the blind birdie of $15.00. Nice shooting Ken!

It's nice to have #1 and #3 in town again. It would be really nice if Jason Rose would defend #2 for a change. Always forgets to put it in play.

and I'm really hoping that someday I'll find where in the world I put #4 so that I can put that into play too.  I found it once and it has been missing since unfortunately :(

missing

The club could probably add a policy about tags for 2009. (Just an idea. My 27 hasn't been in circulation much/at all. So I'm on the bad side of things on this one. I'm just thinking out loud.)

I think if you mention a bag tag to someone in another club, they have more of a "see ya at the next tournament" way of thinking. Which is understandable, because that's how most other clubs do it.

But Fox Valley has Bag Tag Challenges every week! On top of having leagues every week. AND on top of attending tournaments, like the players in other clubs. So maybe it deserves a policy. Maybe, if you have tags 1 thru 10 it has to be in play at least once a month, or exchanged for another tag. And it doesn't even have to mean showing up for the weekly challenge. But everyone knows someone else in the club. Schedule a match.

Or, if it's fair, have the policy be that the match has to be at one of the home courses: Eagle Ridge or Jericho Lake. That way it can be posted, or others can join the match if they are free that day.

And just as a final note, the Bag Tag Challenge every Sunday didn't have to be successful. Credit should be given to all the new local players for keeping it alive, and Randy for starting it & keeping it going too. I think it's one of the things that gives Fox Valley Metro part of its identity. Other clubs don't do this. Not weekly. And not with the success of Fox Valley Metro. And the results being posted the same day by Randy & Mark, has been awesome.

So, just something to think about for 2009.

I agree.  I'm in the same spot as abe since I rarely if ever play for tags.  I guess maybe I need to get my butt up for sunday singles.

As for trying to get people to play for tags with low numbers, the Peoria club I was part of had a bag tag challenge.  You could challenge anyone to a bag tag challenge.  They had two or three weeks to play you for the tag, and if they didn't, they forfeited their tag.  This was the way we tried to get "idle tags" in the mix again.  However, we didn't have members that lived as far away as we do here.  I assume it would make sense to have to be within a certain tag number of someone to challenge them.

I will be at Channy tomorrow. If someone would step up and run the show that would be great. Totally forgot to address that issue at the party.

Why not make the gold tags bag tag challenge exclusive? If you want a crack at the low tags then you better play for them, idle tags should be the highest.

Nothing like going from 14 to 72 because thats the next lowest tag playing. Tru Dat
