IOS #5 @ Rockford, IL
DISContinuum Presents the Illinois Open
PDGA Sanctioned A-Tier
September 6th & 7th 2008

I cannot speak for Jon & Bruce but this has been a goal of mine to host an A-Tier since we started the Illinois Open in 2003. We will do our best to offer a very organized A-Tier. Our goal has been to offer a major event with reasonable entry fee and tons of value for your buck. We run tournaments we would want to play and can afford to play. I cannot tell you how crushed I am not being able to play this one but am very excited in being part of something special in Illinois. All 3 courses are in the same park. With current gas prices you can load the car with your buddies and you will not have to leave the course all day. There are many reasonable priced hotels in Rockford. Camping is also avaliable. Check the official website for updates.

Entry Fee-$60 Onsite (minus $10 if you preregister onine or by mail)
Player pack-TBD
Free Lunch-More details to come
2 Days/4 Rounds of golf at one venue. (No traveling between rounds)
$1800 minimum added cash.
IL USDGC Qualifier (1 Spot-Top finisher from IL in MPO)
USADGC Qualifer

Registrations have started to come in. Make sure you get in. You won't want to get shut out of the biggest event in Illinois this year.

Why aren't you able to play this one? That's too bad.

There are a few things:
1) lots of people so lots to do
2) an official needs to be at each course
3) once again lots of people so lots to do.

Unless Chris Sprague can do it again, this A-Tier might not be won by an Illinois product then. A lot of competition just in the neighboring states alone.

I imagine Adam Olsen will make it over again (from Iowa). Chris Heeren of course will make it from Wisconsin. Maybe Scott Burtard. Michigan has a bunch of good players (Geoff Bennett, Al Schack, Mike Raley, etc), George Smith & Justin Bunnell in Missouri are good. Indiana could send up Brent Koontz & friends.

A lot of good competition.

At A-Tiers you must have a non playing TD for every course. Jon, Bruce, & I will not be playing. Lots & lots of work to do!

www.1000rated.com is proud to announce that we are giving away free registration to one player for the Illinois Open. The raffle does not cost anything, and all you have to do is visit http://www.1000rated.com/?p=66 and reply at the bottom of the page with your name, e-mail, and PDGA number before Thursday Aug 21st at 10PM EST.

The raffle is open to players of all divisions and will run from Monday evening (August 18th) 2008 until Thursday August 21st 2008 at 10pm EST. We will draw from a hat on Thursday night and declare a winner by Friday morning the 22nd. Remember, if you are not already signed up, this is a great way to try and save some money and sign up for an A-tier.

Thanks, and have fun out there...

NOTE:

REGISTRATION FOR THE ILLINOIS OPEN AT ROCKFORD CLOSES 9/3/08 AT NOON.  THAT'S THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT, JUST ABOUT TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY.

Looks like Tony & Larry are the only FV members pre-reg-ed so far.

Chances are, you division will NOT fill, but better safe than sorry:  register soon.

Yes and my little bro is signed-up there too and slated to play in his first tournament...  Hopefully there are not too many baggers in Novice to crush his hopes of getting a respectable place.  *Cough* Mark *Cough*

He is unrated will probably be between 750 and 770 after he gets his rating though  That would be my guess.  He is all power no accuracy.  Put up +18 at oswego when he was here and +8 at jericho from shorts to give you an idea of how he plays.
