I can't make Sunday morning meetings, but feel free to mention the end of September PDGA tournament at Eagle Ridge.  Sept 29th/30th.  Reduced entry fee event.  $20 for AM's, $40 for pro's for those that pre-reg.  Pre-reg is online and will be on the pdga website probably next week.
I can't make it either. It's time for new pin placements at Eagle Ridge. Let's get some!! Overdue!! My 2 cents..... wink smiley

Pins are perty cheap.  Do you have time to check in with your contact at the Park District to see if that is cool with them?  Thanks Randy great idea.

That's funny. Remember John Tiffany. He's still our man. Course designer. disconnected is his username.

Some research needs to be done to see who owns that land. Last time I talked to John, he said that the initial surveys showed that the land just south of the pin for 17 is not owned by the park district.

I've requested a quote from DGA for alternate pin sleeves. Concrete will be cheap and labor free, right?  thumbs up

And yep, we are right on the property line with holes 17 & 18.

Let me know when you want to scout out alternates - I have a couple ideas already.

I'm free this weekend John. Let me know if you set a time for that. Thanks!

Land to the south would be nice but it's owned by a pair of optometrists from Oswego, not park. The property line is about 60' south of #17 basket and 130' south of #18 basket. #17 and #18 don't use all the available space south of the main path so were one to pull these two holes, the space could be used for four decent holes. There's some interesting topography west of #13 that could be utilized for a hole while still maintaining reasonable separation from the highway corridor. Twenty-one anyone?

Good research Dag! They ride remote control cars back there. Some really nice ones. They have or had quite a track. If more trees are vandalized on #17 isn't there enough room to make #17 a par 4  by moving the basket back into the woods? You say the layout gives only 60 feet more?

South really isn't an option on #17 but one could go east another 200' or so. Be hard to call that a par 4 from the shorts but perhaps from the longs.

Take a look for yourself at Kendall County GIS. Click 'OK' to the user agreement, scroll in on the area where Eagle Ridge is and click the '2010' tab on the upper right for satellite imagery. The 'More' tab to the left of the '2010' tab has an option for 'Contour' which will give you nice 2' interval topography. The 'Draw and Measure' icon center of the top center bar has some very handy options. Have fun.

Thanks John for doing the leg work on this.  Looking for input on how many to order.  was there a walk through this weekend and if so what came of the meeting of the minds?

Another question:  Are the current pin locations secured with padlocks and if so we will need to find out about obtaining same locks to keep the keys the same and that will be an additional cost to consider.

Blaine,

Qty 4 anchors with shipping is $124 (each anchor is $25 - balance is shipping). So not sure how many we're looking at, but roughly $30 plus a couple bags of concrete per hole (need to go 42" deep).

Just some examples like down the hill on 3. Hole 7 on the left between the sets of bushes. Hole 8 straight maybe a little right shot into a tunnel in the woods. 11 is closer to the edge of the canyon making a very interesting putt. 17 south further into the woods. We saw a lot of good spots but some holes there's nothing to work with. Nothing set in stone but the ones we looked at seem fun and more difficult. I'm staying out of the decision making. I won't be playing them anyway. Maybe you guys should set up some temp holes in leagues to decide where they go. Just a thought.

The hole with the worst scoring spread is 15 short. What is needed here are a couple of trees planted closer to the short tee to knock down some early errant shots. I personally would like to see this before adding new pin placements.

The one thought I had on hole 3 is I'm not sure we want another location down the hill from the current pin location. I would not want the brush downhill from the current placement removed/beaten down as it definitely makes the comeback putt much more difficult.

Trees are expensive and risky with vandals. Park District might have some at Prairie Points nursery but they might not let us have them. It's worth a try though. I thought about #3 and your right, that would effect old position but I think we should get some alternates, it's time.

just my 2 cents but what if we clear out some of the shrubs on hole 15 to the left of the hole and put a hole in there? I think that would be an interesting hole if you play the left and right weeds as o.b.
