The next Handicap league is not until October 31st, @ 1pm after the 1st Double league.  The calendar was corrected after Sr.'s post at 6:30am.

Fall/Winter Doubles league starts October 31st (Saturday) 9am tee time, Handicap starts at 1pm.

I didn't think Jason Gordon was going to start up Handicap league until the Fall/Winter league began on Oct 31st.  So unless he post, there will be no handicap league on 10/31.

He might have changed his mind since I spoke with him, but when I talked to him at the DISContinuum club challenge he said it would just be one week off and resume October 3rd.  So JASON - need some confirmation either way here, thanks :)

After a long and thought out decision I am regretfully stepping down this winter to run Handicap leagues. Being a 45-50 minutes drive in the winter and the fact that other engagements have taken my priority it is not in my best interest to run the HC this winter.  If anyone else wants to step up and run these I am pretty sure that Mike would work with the individual and bring them up to speed on the HC software.

I am also a bit frustrated with the direction of the club.  I would like to know what is the clubs main goal?  It seems we are really catering to beginners and have barely any advanced/open players, how did that happen?  I am a club member of Streamwood, Grabm (Rockford), and Discontinium and I see a huge difference between FVMDG and these other clubs.  I think maybe the club should address this issue.  The only way to get better is to play with better players and play up, by playing with lower skill level players you play down (this is not meant to be an insult).  I think that the club has really catered to playing down by always playing the short tees.  I believe if we were to play the longs as the norm and occasionally play shorts we would see the skill level exceed and bring in other upper players.  I know this may seem selfish that I want to play against more competitive players but I also need to advance my skill level.  I have committed to playing other clubs and tougher course and competition, but by doing so this means I will not be playing FVMDG leagues much.  This is a perfect example of how the upper players leave.  I am by no means ripping on the club I am only giving corrective criticism to get the club to advance.

I apologize if this comes off as ill conceived.  I hope everyone enjoyed the Handicap league and if no one picks it up I will continue it in the Spring/ Summer.  Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Thank you to Jason & Mike Krupicka for all their hard work they put into running the Handicap league.  I only heard good things about it from the people that participated.

I want to see the HC league continue as I think competitive singles play is one of the best ways to improve one's game. While I don't think I can commit to being out at Oswego absolutely every week as I need to make sure my girls get the time they need with me, I want to play it and am willing to continue to be the background number cruncher. (I would probably have better luck being there every week if the HC was at 9:00am on Sat. and the doubles was in the afternoon, but that would need to be a club decision.)

I was actually thinking earlier this week that the HC league should start being longs only unless course conditions are such that we need to play from the concrete.

argh - I was getting excited about the handicap league because that's the only chance that I had at being competitive in a single division singles environment for a long, long time.  I don't know if playing from the long tees in the winter months is the best idea as the concrete has a less chance of injury, but at the rate the money was raised for the shorts, hopefully we are not that far off from concrete on the longs.  I was actually looking forward to going out this Saturday to play as I can actually make it out on Saturday's.  I'd offer to run it, but considering I haven't been able to make it (on time) to any of the previous weeks, it's not the wisest to step up and run it.

Perhaps we can get 2 or 3 different people that would be willing to run it 1-2 times a month?  As the weather gets colder and colder I'd want to go out there less, but I'd be willing to help out (wife permitting).
